Dear BCPS Family,
Last week, the Kentucky General Assembly passed Senate Bill 1. This bill removes the statewide mask mandate enforced by the Kentucky Board of Education. This issue shifted authority to the local level, allowing superintendents and school boards to determine protocols that best fit their local communities. Due to the high incidence rate in Boyd County, Boyd County Public Schools will continue to require all PK-12 students, employees and visitors to wear a face covering while inside our schools, administrative buildings, and while on school transportation. This requirement includes everyone, regardless of vaccination status.
Over the next several days, our COVID response team will be meeting to discuss additional mitigation strategies in an effort to limit interruptions to the in person learning process. I will also continue to consult with the Boyd County Health Department and update our healthy at school plan later this week.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we do everything possible to keep our students learning safely in school.
William L. Boblett
