July 10, 2020
Dear Boyd County Public Schools Families,
Thank you for your patience and perseverance over the last couple of months as our reopening team, staff, board of education and regional superintendents have been collaborating to work on a safe reopening plan.
As we prepare our reopening plan for the 2020-2021 school year, we continue to monitor the ever-changing guidelines for returning to school. By now, you are aware that our board of education changed the official start date for students to August 26, 2020. I appreciate the board making this change. The calendar change will allow ample time for our teachers to prepare classrooms and undergo training to improve the quality of instruction your child receives no matter what the delivery method.
I know many of you are eagerly anticipating what educational options you will have as a parent this fall. We are continuing to work on these options and plan to release them next week. Please look for an electronic parent form that will be released by next Friday. BCPS will share this form via our social media platforms, IC Caller, and on our webpage. Please be diligent in completing the electronic form for each Boyd County student in your household once released. The data received from this document will allow us to further plan for staffing and safety needs.
Finally, I encourage you to continue to assist your child in allowing them to become comfortable in wearing a face covering, washing their hands, and following all of the Centers for Disease Control and KY Department of Public Health Guidelines. As always, I appreciate all that you do in assisting Boyd County Public Schools in educating your child.
