Superintendent Letter to Parents April 23, 2020

April 23, 2020

Dear BCPS Families,

On April 20, 2020, Governor Beshear gave the recommendation that all Kentucky schools continue Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) for the remainder of the school year. In order to complete the 1,062 instructional hours required by law, Boyd County Public Schools will continue NTI through Thursday, May 14, 2020. This will mark the last day for students for the 2019-2020 school year.

Additional information regarding dates for technology return, locker clean-out, grade postings, etc. will be made available next week. BCPS has set a graduation ceremony date for Saturday, May 16th, at 2:00 pm with an inclement weather day for Sunday, May 17th, at 2:00 pm. More information on the ceremony will be given later next week.

As you know, these last few weeks have been difficult for everyone. Like you, I am disappointed with the loss of in-class instruction time, spring events, spring sports, and most of all the loss of the concluding traditions for our seniors.

Our district remains committed to the needs of your children and are here to assist you in any way we can. Please feel free to reach out to me or your child’s principal, counselor, or teacher if you are in need of assistance.

Sincerely,

William L. Boblett Jr.

Superintendent
