March of Dimes Penny War

"Amazing!!!!" is how Marci Prater describes the students, staff and community of Boyd County Public Schools.

Last week, a penny war was conducted for The Tri-State March of Dimes.  For five days, each grade level in the schools competed to see who could bring in the most money. This penny war had a little twist - all SILVER COINS were counted as negative points for that grade level with pennies and bills counting as positive points. (Even though silver was a negative point, it still accumulated for the schools overall grand total!) Our district raised: $4,104.12!

A huge thank you and congratulations to Marci Prater and her efforts for this successful fundraiser.

Here are the individual school totals with the grade level winners:

Cannonsburg - $588.88 – 2nd grade

Catlettsburg - $1,489.74 – Kindergarten

Summit - $874.57 – 4th Grade

BCMS - $395.58 – 7th Grade
