Greetings Boyd County community and guests!
We are over halfway through our 2016-17 Academic year here at Boyd County High School. With basically 3 months left (barring the dreadful “snow days”), our seniors will be walking the stage mid-May. What a pleasure it has been to serve as their Principal these last two years. I’ve had the opportunity to watch them grow and mature academically as well as socially. They truly have a servant’s heart for service to others and school spirit.
In the next few months, our students will be completing school requirements, taking state-mandated tests, filling out applications for scholarships, applying to secondary education institutions, and seeking employment. This is a very challenging and stressful time for all involved. The reality of increased expectations, as well as the fear of the unknown, can cause heightened anxiety in the lives of our children (and parents). I urge you, as parents, guardians, and friends to focus on the positive, encourage our students with praise, and be available when they need to talk.
I thank you for your continued support of Boyd County High School and all that it entails. We are striving every day to make a difference, not only in the lives of our students, but in our community as well.
If I can ever be of assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact me here at school.
Thomas Holbrook, Principal
