Superintendent's Message

On behalf of our students, staff, and the Board of Education, I would like to welcome you to our website and to the Boyd County Public Schools. We hope this site is very informative and allows you to learn more about how we serve the students of our community.

The Boyd County Public School District is committed to create and maintain an environment of high expectations, to engage every student in work reflecting a high level of achievement as we work collaboratively with students, colleagues, families, and our community to ensure that each student learns beyond their potential. This commitment will guide our decisions and allow us to establish priorities as we strive to become and maintain the best school district in the region; to achieve our vision - The Leader in Learning!

We, as a district, will work to grow each student with the knowledge, critical thinking strategies, life skills, and team-working concepts that will enable them to be productive, caring citizens in any community in which they may choose to live in this global society.

As partners of our schools, we encourage our community and parents to join our staff, becoming more involved in the education of our students through volunteering, providing new ideas, and supporting the educational process of our school system. It is imperative that we work together in a collaborative effort to provide the resources and goals in which we expect our students to achieve.

Following our Vision and Mission, the staff of Boyd County Public Schools, preschool through graduation, will provide the needed opportunities for our students to be:

  • Critical Thinkers
  • Problem Solvers
  • Communicators
  • Team Members
  • Creators and Innovators
  • Technologists
  • Leaders
  • Life-long Learners
  • College and/or Career Ready

As you are aware, our state and nation are experiencing some very difficult economic situations. Our district has been drastically affected with losses in both state and federal revenue shortages. As we think about the education of our students and our vision, “The Leader in Learning”, we must strive to move forward and support the education of our community. We must work smarter together not to let such problems cause setbacks to the educational process and, ultimately, our students and their future.

Please know that our staff continues to adjust and make the necessary changes to continue high levels of expectations and learning. We continue to be very competitive academically with area and regional schools although our funding and tax rates may be significantly lower than our closest competitors.

We have an awesome staff that continues to strive for excellence. They have embraced each of the state’s Unbridled Learning initiatives and will continue to be the best that they can be to give students the next generation learning skills they deserve.

Lastly, thank you students, staff, and community for making this an outstanding place to live and serve.
