Welcome to the Boyd County Schools, where we continue to strive to become “The Leader in Learning”.
This website will help you learn more about our school district and each of our schools. We are happy that you have taken the time to learn more about our district and all that we have to offer our students, staff, and community.
Our dedicated staff understands the power in positive relationships between schools, home, and community. We are continually working on our customer service. Working together, we are developing students and community as lifelong learners. With a goal of becoming a high-performing, premier school district in not only the Ashland area but the State of Kentucky, we understand the importance of valuing and developing our student’s weaknesses, strengths, talents, and interests. By placing a priority on developing the whole student, we will better prepare them for greater academic achievement, to be college and career ready, and to help them reach their potential and their dreams.
I am Brock Walter and I am excited to begin my 25th year as an educator. The 2014-2015 school year begins my second school term as servant and Superintendent of Boyd County Schools. I am a proud product and graduate of Boyd County High School Class of 1982. I have been blessed with a variety of positions during my educational experience. I have served as a middle school/high school science and biology teacher, assistant principal, coordinator of student services, assistant superintendent as well as many coaching duties in a variety of sports (girls and boys). I am currently an active member of the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents, Kentucky Association of School Administrators and Unity Baptist Church where I serve as College and Career Sunday School Teacher & Games Director for the AWANA program. I am also a member of the Ashland Breakfast KIWANIS. My wife, Shelly, and I reside in Boyd County. We have three children, Tyler (22), Clay (20) and JB (11).
An old saying of school superintendents says, “School Superintendents are the dream makers for Kentucky’s children.” I consider it an honor and privilege to work with the Boyd County Board of Education, our outstanding students and staff, along with the community to continue to make those dreams come true for the students of Boyd County. Our goal to be a top district in Kentucky will require hard work and dedication by all stakeholders. I encourage you to be an active participant during this exciting time.
Thanks for visiting our site and trusting us to help raise your children. We will continue to evaluate and change as we prepare to reach new heights of success that will positively affect our students, our schools, and our community!
