Hello! My name is Tanya Queen, and I am so excited to be joining your child on his or her journey through school and taking part in creating the foundation for your child's educational experience. Preschool is a fun and exciting time, and every experience is a learning experience. I promise to make every minute count!
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. Although I was raised in Proctorville, Ohio and graduated from Fairland High School and Marshall University, I have loved living in Ashland since 1997. I have been a receptionist at the Ashland Animal Clinic since 1997, and my favorite part of being a receptionist has been the opportunity to educate clients and children about responsible pet care and ownership. I, along with my certified therapy dog "Angel", visited schools and talked to young children about caring for and training their pets and being responsible pet owners. My experiences helped me realize that I could make a difference in my community by teaching children.
In 2010, I married my wonderful husband, Dale, a college professor, began teaching a preschool Sunday school class at Beech Street Christian Church, substitute teaching in area schools, and enrolled in Western Governors University to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. After obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education, I taught at a private preschool in Ashland.
My goal as your child's teacher is to be the very best role model, guide, and teacher I can be every day. For the precious children whom I have been entrusted to teach, I will provide them with engaging, hands-on learning opportunities that will enable each child to experience cognitive, emotional, and social growth in a caring and respectful environment as they learn new things about themselves and the world. Most importantly, I believe that education does not start and stop at the classroom door. Parents are a child's first teachers and have the biggest influence on their life. I plan to work collaboratively with parents, colleagues, and members of the community to ensure that every child develops the skills and attitudes necessary to become a successful and contributing member of society.
I have two awesome, hard-working assistants, Mrs. Kayla Dillon and Mrs. Chasiti Dowdy, and we have an open door policy in our classroom. We will be communicating with you often. We would love to hear from you, especially if you feel there is something we could do to make your child's preschool experience more positive. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to call, e-mail or visit us. Thank you again for allowing us the opportunity to help guide and teach your child through this exciting time of life!
