Mr. Robert Lockhart
English and U.S. History, Rm 248
Boyd County High School

Hello Students, Parents, and Guardians!!

Although I am many things, I am primarily a reader and a writer, which means I must be the luckiest person in the world! I am a high school English and U.S. History teacher, and I get to support my family and myself by talking about reading and writing with others all day long. In my classes, we will accomplish many things over the course of the year (some of us more than others), but everything will be linked in some way to reading and writing.

I believe that proficiency in reading and writing is the most important skill we can develop in order to negotiate our lives in the real world after high school. While I hope that students will develop and/or nurture an appreciation and a love for reading and writing through the many activities experienced this year, our primary goal is to develop a proficiency in reading and writing. Of course, I have additional goals, but it all begins in that one primary goal.

I want my classroom to be an open and safe environment for teaching and learning. Students should always feel free to participate and contact me when necessary. Parents and guardians should understand what their sons and daughters are expected to accomplish in order to be successful, and they should feel comfortable in the knowledge that they may contact me with questions, criticisms, or comments. The most effective way to communicate with me is through email at Robert.lockhart@boyd.kyschools.us , but you may also call me (and leave a message) at 928-7100.

Students, I want you to expect great things from me, and I want you to expect great things from yourself.

Parents and Guardians, I want you to expect great things from your daughters and sons. I also want you to expect that I and the school will do all within our power to meet the needs of your daughters and sons. I encourage you to take an active stance regarding what happens in this classroom and the school. And I encourage you to remain in constant communication with me so that you are aware of the progress we make.

Although I will be working regularly on this web site, adding things and modifying files, students will find everything they need to be successful, and parents and guardians will find everything they need to help their sons and daughters be successful, including assignments, information, and schedules. I will be adding specific materials throughout the year, so keep checking in to see what is available.

Again, I want to welcome you to my classroom. I am excited about teaching at Boyd County High School, and I am looking forward to working with each every one of you.
