Simple Activities that will help your child use their skills in a
real life environment
Week 1:
Sounds: Look thru a favorite book and try to find 5-10 words that has one of your child's sounds in them.
Language: Read a favorite book talk about a character from the book. Describe them and then draw a picture to match the description.
Week 2:
Sounds: Draw pictures of 3 things around your house that has your child's sound(s) in them. Next hide them and have your child find them. When they find them have them say "I found _________." to practice their sound.
Language: Pick a room in your house and name 5 things that you find in that room. Have your child tell what each item you named is used for.
Week 3:
Sounds: Before watching a favorite T.V. show, have your child listen for 2-3 words from the show that would have their sound.
Language: While eating dinner have your child tell their favorite food they are eating at dinner. Tell its category and then have them name 3 more things that go with it. (For example: Hamburger, it is a meat, 3 more meats are chicken, steak, sausage.)
Week 4:
Sounds: Talk about your family. Try to think of a family member that has a name with one of their sounds in it.
Language: Talk about your family. Name the boys, girls, the tallest family member and the funniest family member.
