I- Care Cat
The I-Care Cat is a special friend at ECLC and Summit Elementary School. He primarily visits preschool, Kindergarten throughout the school year and 1st grade classrooms toward the beginning of the school year to teach and review the I-Care rules. I Care Cat is present and referred to in counseling lessons throughout the year to remind some of our older students to keep practicing I Care Rules and be role models for our younger students with these rules.
Each preschool and Kindergarten classroom has a poster to help them learn and review the rules. Other posters are throughout the school. These 5 simple rules give the opportunity for effective communication between teachers and students, and parents and child. We appreciate your support and encouragement at home for students to practice these rules.
The I-Care Rules are:
1. We listen to each other.
2. Hands are for helping, not hurting.
3. We use I-Care language.
4. We care about each other’s feelings.
5. We are responsible for what we say and do.
