Biology I is a two semester course in which students develop a conceptual understanding of biology. Students are introduced to biological concepts such as cellular organization, molecular basis of heredity, biological change, biological diversity, and behavior of organisms.
Using a scientific inquiry approach, Biology I provides a meaningful view of the living world and its interrelationships while helping students to develop critical-thinking skills.
Humans and their influence upon the environment is the key theme through out the course. Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring will be assigned reading for this course.
