WOW!! Can you believe it's February??? I CAN NOT!!! This year is flying right by (especially without snow days). We are working very hard here in our kindergarten class. I hope all of the parents are working hard with your children at home. May will be here before we know it.
We will be having a Valentine's Day party on the 14th of this month. Please be looking for a note coming home very soon. Thank you for everything you do at home and keep up the great work.

We had SO MUCH FUN at the Ashland Fire Department!!! I saw so many smiles on that day from each and every child in my classroom. Seeing those faces makes this job SO WORTH IT! Please check the site for pictures. I plan on posting several of the pictures I took on my camera. Also, thank you to each and every parent who came out and helped make the field trip a SUCCESS!!!

Let me give you a little back story on how this 9/11 tile thing came about....
Two summers ago, a group of us from Ponderosa took a trip to NYC. While touring the city, Mrs. Biggs, Ms. Crowe, and I came accross tiles that had been painted by elementary school aged children after the events of 9/11. It was a way for the children to express how they felt about the tragedy that had taken many lives. The three of us were touched! As we sat on this double decker tour bus looking at these tiles displayed for the city to see, we thought WE NEED TO DO THIS.
We brought the idea back to our school and everyone embraced it. Last year we had a small ceremony and only the kindergarten and 5th grade participated in painting the tiles and displaying them for everyone to see. This year, we have had a wonderful person graciously donate a tile for every student to paint on. (Thank you SO MUCH DJ's Kitchen) Our tiles will be displayed for everyone to see as they drive up to our school. The students have been so touched by this and took this project very serious. We here at Ponderosa are dedicated to never let these young children forget the price of being free. We hope you are just as moved as we are.
