Compare your paragraph with this one.  Does it "sound" like a speech?  Have you included your well-crafted thesis statement as part of the intro paragraph? Have you created a "bridge" to the rest of the speech?

Have this paragraph prepared for peer grading on Wednesday.

We then read chapter 13 of Mockingbird and took a One Question Quiz.

Today,we did further work on thesis statement.  Using the worksheet from 2/29 we critiqued some of your thesis statement attempts.  You are to take the thesis statement from prompt 1 or 2 and rework it into a real and workable thesis statement. (25 points)

Read the following article about the fifty year anniversary of To Kill a Mockingbird written in 2010.  It is full of insight into the author and her personality.  Take extensive Cornell Notes. (Use as many sheets as you need.)  You will have a quiz over this information.

2/26/16

Today we talked about how to write on-demand effectively through a powerpoint presentation and cornell note-taking.  You will find the presentation and the cornell sheet below.

How to use Cornell Note-Taking sheet:

Fill in the top.  The topic is "On Demand Writing"
Take notes from the presentation in the right hand column. (The one with the lines)  After note-taking write possible test questions in the left hand hand column.  It's always good to anticipate what the teacher could ask.
Then, in the bottom rectangle write a brief summary of what you learned from this note-taking session / lecture / presentation.
