Our Family Resource and Youth Services Centers are here to serve the needs of Boyd County students.
The primary mission of the Family Resource and Youth Services Centers is to support children and their families. The centers seek to accomplish this by providing ongoing assistance so families, who may be struggling, can affectively access and utilize the various community-based programs in our area. The centers 'link' families with the appropriately needed services.

Family Resource and Youth Services Centers came about as a result of the Kentucky General Assembly's enactment of the Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA) of 1990. KRS Chapter 156.497 called for the creation of an Interagency Task Force on Family Resource and Youth Service Centers. this task force developed a five year plan to implement a network of FRYSC's to serve eligible schools across Kentucky. These centers were designed to address needs of students and families through the provision of human services and support. While the broad goal for FRYSC is to "meet the needs of economically disadvantaged children and their families," activities provided through a center will be available to all children, youth, parents, and families who live in the community served by their center. A center's activities and programs are for ALL children and families. All families are served regardless of social, ethnic, and/or socioeconomic status.
