Welcome to Catlettsburg Elementary. Drumroll please...the March 2017 Fred of the Month winner is Adam Turner! Congratulations, Adam! Nominees and the February winner of the Fred of the Month Award were recognized at the February 28th Board of Education meeting. Pictured, left to right:  Bill Boblett, Safe Schools Coordinator; the District Technology Department - Brad Williams, Zach Allen and Sam Williams; the Fred of the Month winner, Lisa Coleman. Nominated, but not pictured:  Katie Phillips and Kristen Rhodes. Honored at the board meeting for encouraging or being chosen to perform in the KMEA All-State choirs are, left to right, Aaron Bowling - music instructor at BCHS and Catlettsburg; BCHS student Christian Trimble; Summit music instructor Cynthia Sullivan, Malichi Gillum - Children's All-State Choir; BCMS music instructor Melissa Downey, and Emma Dalton - Junior High All-State Choir. Dr. Judy Nichols is recognized for successfully completing levels II and II of the KY School Board Association's Academy of Studies during the 2016 calendar year. Alison Bays, on the left, and Kelly Deborde, on the right, were two of the district counselors recognized at the February board meeting. Not pictured are Shelly Lemaster - BCHS, Steve Grannis - BCHS, Julie Criss - BCCTEC, Theresa Kazee - Cannonsburg, Penny Fuller - Ponderosa, Deana Sexton - Summit. and Linda Tromboli - Ramey-Estep High. Boyd County Lions win against Ashland to clinch the 64th District Champions title for the fourth year in a row. GO LIONS! Dr. Patricia Parker-Perry, center, from the Sandy Hook Promise project, gives examples to her student volunteers as to how easy it really is to "Start With Hello." Everyone is eager to give their ideas about how to "Start With Hello" during the Sandy Hook Promise presentation. Dr. P gets an affirming 'high five' from a student after her presentation. Dr. P from Sandy Hook Promise gives the older students easy ways to identify someone who is alone and how to simply start a conversation with them. "Hello, do you like sports?" Mrs. Baldwin, at center, is shown here receiving the Presidential Award at the KEDC meeting on February 15th, 2017. To her left is BCHS Principal Thomas Holbrook and to her right is BCPS Superintendent Brock Walter. The January Fred of the Month Award was shared by the Coordinators and staff of the Family Resource and Youth Services Centers.
